WELCOME TO JACK FLEMING PHOTOGRAPHY

Los Angeles based photographer and artist, Jack Fleming found his passion in the art of photography at age 5 with a 1938 Brownie Camera his Mother had as a child. His Father lended him his 35mm SLR in Junior High Yearbook and from there, Fleming's first 3 photographs were published at age 12.

STYLE AND INFLUENCE

His style focuses on a theme of bright vivid colors, geometric shapes/angles, and subtle textures in an attempt to make every image eye catching, sexy, and classy regardless of the subject matter. His influences come from such artists as James Rosenquist, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Claude Monet, and photographers Anton Corbijn, Michael Vincent, Walter Ioos Jr, Arny Freytag, and Helmet Newton.

CORPORATE BACKGROUND

Until recently, Fleming worked corporately in the Licensing division for ACI international, otherwise known as LA Gear doing product development. His accounts included Mattel (Hot Wheels), Nickelodeon (Dora The Explorer, Spongebob Squarepants), Dreamworks (Shrek, Bee Movie, Kung Foo Panda), Warner Bros (Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Scooby Doo), NASCAR, and United Media (Fancy Nancy). Other corporate experience includes Merchandising, Licensing, Operations, Line Producing, and product development with Disney Consumer Products, Disney Internet Group/Go.com, Disney Online Auctions, NASCAR.com, ESPN.com, ARTISTdirect.com and ARTISTdirect Records.

EDUCATION

Fleming holds two Bachelors degrees in Advertising and Graphic Design with concentrations in Theatrical Lighting/Set design as well as Oil Painting from the University of Evansville (IN). Fleming also spent time abroad at Harlaxton College (Grantham, England) which has been the film location for more than a half dozen feature films including most recently, in 1999 "The Haunting of Hill House."

BACKGROUND

Fleming was adopted at age 2 weeks and grew up in the small college town of Granville, Ohio about 30 miles East of Columbus until the age of 18. After 8 years in Evansville, Indiana attending college and working his first professional job, Fleming moved to Venice Beach, CA where he resided for 8 years and then Eagle Rock, CA for the past 7 years in his studio. Fleming's Parents still reside in Granville where he visits often. Since the age of 21, he has also become very close with his birth Parents and full Brother and Sister who still live in Columbus.

ADDITIONAL INFLUENCES

Fleming's influences also carry over from experiences while traveling throughout most of the United States, Canada, Europe, and the former Soviet Union. His genetic background since learning about his adoption and birth family has included family members working personally and professionally in interior design, furniture sales, toy making, arts and crafts, illustration and drawing, graphic design, writing, consumer products and retail, and a Sister who graduated with a degree in Communications and a Brother who graduated with a degree in Graphic Design. Incidentally, Fleming as mentioned above, possesses degrees in both Communications and Graphic Design.

2009

Through June 14, 2009, Fleming continued to work out of his 2600 sq ft studio in the L.A. suburb community of Eagle Rock, minutes from downtown L.A., Burbank, Pasadena, and Hollywood. Unfortunately, due to a building fire next door in April 2009 and substantial destruction to the building and the greater good of his business, Jack Fleming Photography has decided to vacate the premises after 7 awesome years. For the duration of the Summer and Winter of 2009, Fleming commuted between Los Angeles and his home state of Ohio while spending time with family, pursuing photography and production efforts in both regions, and in the process, eventually plans for an even larger studio space in the greater Los Angeles area down the road.

2010

2010 was a very busy and personally challenging year commuting back and forth between Los Angeles and Columbus, Ohio (family reasons). While in Los Angeles for each 1-3 month interval, he resided in a very diverse selection of locations including 3rd and Fairfax/Farmers Market area, downtown L.A. in a very gang infested rough neighborhood warehouse loft, and finally ended up in the very posh but unnassuming city of Malibu in a house in the mountains.

While executing each 2300 mile leg each direction cross country, Fleming was inspired to develop a new aspect of his business, "Jack Fleming Productions" through a major project related to Fashion, Charity, and Photography which is currently "in development." On top of these time intensive trips, Fleming has continued to be a major contributor to LookBookLA.com and PubClub.com (both based in Los Angeles). LookBookLA.com and Jack Fleming Photography were the official "House Photographers" for "LA Fashion Weekend" (April AND October) at Sunset Gower Studios and Produced by Mikey Koffman, who was the Star of the Showtime original Reality series, "The Real L-Word" which premiered in June. Fleming also worked extensively for the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach while photographing Indy Racing League, American Le Mans Auto Racing, The Toyota Miss Grand Prix Pageant, and the bands "Molotov" and headliner, "Cheap Trick." Fleming plans to spend much of the remainder of the year in Los Angeles as of Mid June with multiple trips back to Ohio, Vancouver (B.C.), and Key West, FL.

2011

2011 MARKS JACK FLEMING PHOTOGRAPHY'S TENTH ANNIVERSARY in September. Although, having taken multiple business hiatuses throughout the past two years while in Ohio with family and due to multiple major personal set backs, Fleming continues to strategically organize, plan, and conceptualize his business interests and with his creative peers. "I consider myself a survivor through all of this," Fleming states. "As I've often heard the familiar phrase, 'what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger,' that's how I am viewing what I have personally been through. I feel like I could shake anything off me that hits me now. I've lost some friends and colleagues along the way unfortunately, but I've tried to be true to myself and pursue my dreams. Those who have been true friends and colleagues have more than proved their relationships with me and for that I feel very blessed." Now in his early 40's, Fleming finally feels like he knows who he is, what he wants, and how he is going to obtain it. "It feels really great," he says. "I feel the very best I've felt in at least ten years and nothing is stopping me now!"

Although having spent January and part of February in cold, Wintery Ohio, Fleming returned to Malibu, CA in late February. Already in the 1st half of 2011, Fleming has been House Photographer (3rd consecutive season) for "LA Fashion Weekend" at Sunset Gower Studios (March) hosted by The Gallery Los Angeles, served as an "official" photographer for the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach (April), photographed commercial architectural interiors for the very first "Rolling Stone Restaurant and Lounge" at Hollywood's famous Hollywood and Highland complex, was one of two exclusive photographers for "Christian Comb's 13th Birthday (Rapper Sean P Diddy Comb's Son), got published in "US Weekly" as well as "Hollyscoop.com" and was one of six participants in a new Reality Television Show Pilot called "Shutter Wars" and in which was filmed in Washington D.C. Incidentally, Fleming finished in 2nd place by 1/2 of a point to the first place winner who is now an Agency Fashion Photographer in China.

The remainder of the year includes quite a few tricks 'up Jack's camera lens' from the upgrading of his photography equipment in May and August to new events, AND more importantly a NEW TEAM of professional individuals who hope to reshape some pursuits in Los Angeles. Fleming continues to develop his cross country concept via "Jack Fleming Productions" and continues to develop mutual interests with those team members. Fleming plans to attend Mercedes Benz Miami Swim Fashion Week in July, produce and show in at least one photographic exhibit this year in Los Angeles, enter a National Geographic Photo Contest this Summer, and develop new and unique pursuits revolving around Photography, Fashion, Professional Sports, Events, and other creative adventures. Stay tuned for more plans revolving around Jack Fleming Photography's TENTH ANNIVERSARY IN SEPTEMBER and join Jack on Facebook at http://www.Facebook.com/jackflemingphotography for frequent updates to Fleming's where abouts and activities. His Facebook allows for you to see both his professional and personal sides as a creative photographer and great friend.

CURRENTLY, Fleming is residing in Malibu, CA on top of a Mountain. However, as of June, He will likely relocate to one of downtown Los Angeles's historic districts, return to Venice Beach, or consider possibilities in Santa Monica or Pacific Palisades. Otherwise, It's very common to see Fleming shooting Fashion Events for LookBookLA.com, professional sports, major promoters at night clubs, celebrity events, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Box 8 Fashion Week, CoLA Fashion Week, and for magazines, personal clients, as well as on the beach in Malibu, or anywhere he finds an interesting background or topic.

"I am DEFINITELY NOT paparazzi...," Jack assertively says, "and I don't really enjoy shooting red carpets (although I will if hired). I am hired privately to work for or inside an event or for specific creative purposes. I like to document an event with a purpose or tell a story."

His work has engulfed the likes of Christina Aguilera, P Diddy, ICE T, SBE/Bolthouse Productions, National Geographic Society/Line Jumper Talents, and for major venues in Hollywood in Entertainment, Fashion, Music, Educational Publishing, and Proffessional Sports, among many other entities.

PUBLISHED

Fleming has been published most recently in US Weekly with images of P Diddy, Son Christian, and Chris Brown as well as the California Apparel News, Vogue.com (Britain), Hollyscoop.com, Flaunt Magazine, Item Magazine, National Geographic Society/Line Jumper Talents interests,  Create Magazine, Vegas Magazine, Player Magazine, and LA Yoga Magazine. Multiple other (mostly) fashion related magazines, which were never launched due to the downturn in the economy have also been the subject of potential published images. With that in mind, Fleming has also been published on many websites dealing with everything from fashion to lifestyle to event to professional sports to product placement and branding to regional to educational publishing.
